                              THE PASSIVE VOICE                                                                                     

I-The active form :                                                                               

1-Salah locks the door at 6 0’clock.   1-Salah  2-locks   3-the door --S-V-O.

2-The storm destroyed a lot of trees.

II-The passive form:

          1-The door is locked at 6 o’clock.

         2-A lot of trees were destroyed.

------------1-New subject                    2-to be (inflected)                         3-past participle.

III-The Passive with modals

Examples:

You must switch off the computer after use.

The computer must be switched off after use.

You must keep medicines out of the reach of children.

Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.

You must sign the visa application.

The visa application must be signed.

You can fill it out in Arabic, too.

It can be filled in Arabic, too.

We speak Arabic in Morocco.

Arabic is spoken in Morocco.

          1-They sell food in the market.

          2-We rejected her application.

          3 –He stole the car.

          4-She has cleaned the room.

          5-You opened the window.
